Day by day description

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park – Sunset Game Drive

Your safari begins bright and early with a 05:30 AM pick-up from your hotel or the airport in Dar es Salaam. As you leave the city behind, the drive takes you through charming villages, scenic landscapes, and the rolling Uluguru Mountains before reaching Mikumi National Park after 5–6 hours.

Upon arrival, check in to your lodge and enjoy lunch before heading out on your first game drive. The afternoon and evening hours are prime time for spotting wildlife as they gather around waterholes or prepare to hunt at dusk. Expect to encounter elephants moving in herds, lions resting in the shade, giraffes browsing treetops, wildebeests and zebras grazing together, and flocks of colorful birds gliding across the sky.

Return to your lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay at Mikumi Park Cottage, surrounded by the wild sounds of the African night.

Day 2: Sunrise Game Drive & Maasai Cultural Experience – Return to Dar es Salaam

Begin the day with a sunrise game drive, when the golden light casts a magical glow over the park and predators are most active. By 09:00 AM, return for a hearty breakfast before continuing your journey.

Next, you’ll head to a Maasai boma, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by Maasai warriors and families. Learn about their nomadic traditions, age-old customs, and deep connection to the land, while enjoying traditional dances and engaging stories.

After this enriching cultural encounter, enjoy lunch before starting the drive back to Dar es Salaam. You’ll arrive in the evening, marking the end of your 2-day Mikumi safari adventure — a journey filled with both thrilling wildlife encounters and authentic cultural experiences.
