Safari Overview

The Tanzania Safari to Mahale Mountains and Gombe Stream National Parks offers a unique and immersive experience of tracking chimpanzees and exploring the stunning landscapes of Lake Tanganyika. This 7-day adventure allows you to discover the natural wonders of the western circuit parks of Tanzania.

Day 1: Transfer to Mahale Mountains National Park

Your safari begins as you depart from Arusha on a shared charter flight to Mahale National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to the lodge by boat. After a hot lunch, embark on an afternoon Chimpanzee Tracking activity in the forest. Enjoy dinner and spend the night at the lodge.

Day 2: Mahale Mountains National Park

Start your day with a Chimpanzee tracking expedition in the forest after breakfast. Following your adventure, enjoy a hot lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, experience a thrilling boat safari on Lake Tanganyika, offering opportunities for bird-watching and game viewing. Enjoy dinner and rest at the lodge.

Day 3: Mahale Mountains National Park

Continue your Chimpanzee Tracking activities in the forest after breakfast. Indulge in a hot lunch at the lodge and perhaps try your hand at fishing in the beautiful Lake Tanganyika. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be provided at the lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to the Lake for a boat to Kigoma

After breakfast, transfer to the lake and take a boat to Kigoma town. Upon arrival in Kigoma, you’ll be transferred to Kigoma Hilltop Hotel. Enjoy a hot lunch and then be transported back to the lake for a boat journey to Gombe Stream National Park. Spend the night at the lodge.

Day 5: Kakombe Water Falls

Embark on a Chimpanzee Tracking activity in the forest after breakfast. You’ll also have the opportunity to climb to Kakombe Water Falls, weather permitting. Return to Gombe Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Gombe Stream National Park

After breakfast, participate in another Chimpanzee Tracking activity in the forest. Later, climb to Jane’s Peak for panoramic views of the surroundings. Enjoy meals and overnight accommodations at Gombe Camp.

Day 7: Departure

Transfer to the lake after breakfast for a boat journey to Kigoma town. Upon arrival, take part in a city tour of Kigoma and Ujiji Town. Hot lunch will be provided at Kigoma Hilltop Hotel. Later, transfer to the airport for a Precisionair Flight to Dar or Arusha, marking the end of your adventure.
