Safari Overview

Selous Game Reserve, spanning over 55,000 square kilometers, stands as one of Africa’s largest protected game reserve areas. It boasts a diverse array of wildlife and bird species, including lions, elephants, giraffes, African buffalo, cheetahs, hippos, and crocodiles. The reserve encompasses various habitats, including wetlands along the Rufiji River and Miombo woodlands. Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve and Rufiji River Boat Safari

Your journey starts from Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve, now known as Nyerere National Park. The approximately 5-hour drive showcases the African landscape and life. Upon arriving at the camp, relish a hot lunch and some relaxation. In the late afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the Rufiji River at around 4:00 pm. Witness the abundance of hippos and crocodiles, along with a diverse array of bird species thriving in the Rufiji River swampland. Return to Africa Safari Lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive

Today is dedicated to an immersive full-day game drive within the national park. Starting after breakfast, the game drive includes a picnic lunch break for you to rest and refuel. Experience the breathtaking African wildlife, diverse topography, acacia forests, and distant mountain vistas. Nyerere National Park’s vast expanse, covering 54,600 square kilometers, is renowned for its substantial elephant population. Lions, wild dogs, buffalos, bushbucks, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras, giraffes, and kudus are among the other species you can encounter.

Day 3: Morning Walking Safari and Return to Dar es Salaam

Begin the day with an early sunrise walking safari in the light-dappled Selous Forest, guided by an armed ranger. Return to the camp for breakfast. Afterward, prepare for check-out and embark on your journey back to Dar es Salaam.
