Mikumi National Park, conveniently located closest to both Dar es Salaam and Morogoro town, offers an array of wildlife experiences including wildlife viewing, camping safaris (available upon request), walking safaris, and night safaris (available upon request). Adjacent to the immense Selous Game Reserve, Mikumi is a mere 6-hour drive from Dar es Salaam.
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park
Embark on an early start around 05:30 hours as you’re picked up from your Dar es Salaam hotel (or airport, as per your preference) for the journey to Mikumi National Park. This scenic drive takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, leading you to the park’s entrance gate. Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation, allowing time to refresh and savor lunch. Following a brief lunch break, delve into an exhilarating game drive that stretches until sunset. As the sun sets, return to your accommodation for an overnight stay at Mikumi Park Cottage.
Day 2: Mikumi National Park + Maasai Experience & Return to Dar es Salaam
Embrace the early morning for a sunrise game drive, extending until approximately 09:00 hours. Breakfast awaits, fueling you for a drive that spans about an hour. Following this, embark on a journey to a Maasai boma, delving into the nomadic tribe’s history and lifestyle, offering insight into their harmonious coexistence with nature. Witness mesmerizing Maasai dances and enjoy a hearty lunch before beginning your return trip to Dar es Salaam.
