Safari Overview

Mikumi National Park, situated closest to Dar es Salaam and Morogoro town, offers a variety of wildlife experiences including wildlife viewing, camping safaris (available on request), walking safaris, and night safaris (available on request). Within Mikumi National Park’s diverse ecosystem, you can anticipate encountering animals such as lions, buffalos, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, warthogs, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, elands, leopards, jackals, and numerous other species. The park also boasts over 300 bird species and a diverse range of plant life. Notably, Mikumi National Park shares a border with Africa’s largest game reserve, the Selous, and it’s only a 6-hour drive from Dar es Salaam.

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your Dar es Salaam hotel or airport. After a briefing, your journey to Mikumi National Park commences. Upon arriving in Mikumi, you’ll check in before embarking on game drives. A lunch break will be enjoyed with picnic boxes at the park’s picnic center, where you can relish the park’s diverse wildlife. Anticipate sightings of lions, buffalos, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, warthogs, elephants, hippos, and a variety of bird species. Your overnight stay and dinner await at TANAPA Cottages.

Day 2: Mikumi National Park & Maasai Village

Following breakfast, a full day of game drives ensues. Enjoy a break for lunch while continuing to experience the park’s rich wildlife diversity. The landscape might unveil elephants, lions, leopards, impalas, wildebeests, zebras, jackals, giraffes, crocodiles, hippos, and more. In the afternoon, you’ll visit a Maasai village to immerse yourself in Maasai culture. Your day concludes with dinner and overnight accommodation at Camp Bastian.

Day 3: Mikumi to Dar es Salaam

After breakfast, your return journey to Dar es Salaam commences. While en route, you’ll have opportunities to spot wildlife around Mikumi National Park. A stop for a hot lunch and a brief refreshment will be made at a hotel. The journey will then continue to Dar es Salaam, where you’ll be dropped off at the airport, ferry, or your hotel.
