You’ll embark on an exciting journey that takes you through two of Tanzania’s remarkable national parks: Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve) and Mikumi National Park. These parks offer diverse landscapes, abundant wildlife, and unique experiences, promising an unforgettable adventure.
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park (Selous)
Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or the airport in Dar es Salaam. You’ll head to Nyerere National Park (Selous), which is Tanzania’s largest national park. After arriving, check in to your accommodation and enjoy lunch. Later in the afternoon, experience the thrill of a boat safari along the Rufiji River, witnessing hippos, crocodiles, and the vibrant natural surroundings. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Matembezi Safari Lodge.
Day 2: Nyerere National Park (Selous) to Mikumi National Park
Following breakfast, engage in a game drive within Nyerere National Park. The park’s diverse landscape and rich wildlife make for an exciting exploration. After a picnic lunch within the park, you’ll depart for Mikumi National Park, crossing the picturesque Uluguru Mountains. Camp Bastian will be your lodging for the night.
Day 3: Mikumi National Park & Maasai Village
Dive into a full day of game drives within Mikumi National Park. The park’s flood plains and surrounding mountains provide a habitat for various animals, from lions and wildebeests to giraffes and elephants. After a fulfilling day of wildlife encounters, you’ll visit a Maasai village to learn about their nomadic lifestyle, history, and partake in traditional dance. Retreat to Tanswiss Hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 4: Mikumi to Dar es Salaam
As your journey concludes, savor your final breakfast in Mikumi and begin your return to Dar es Salaam. Along the way, you’ll visit a Maasai boma to gain further insights into their culture and way of life. After lunch, you’ll continue your trip back to Dar es Salaam, where your safari adventure comes to an end.
